Highlight your eyes with the right eyeliner

Bid farewell to the super fine line that decorated eyes last season.  There’s no two ways about the new eyeliner.  It’s taking over the lid.

When you put the emphasis on your eyeliner in your makeup strategy, your gaze can take on a dramatic, or even gothic presence.  No need to add extra punch, that’s for sure, so keep to basic black. Any other color will have people in your wake wondering whether or not the circus is in town.

A very sharp black line can seem awfully severe, so to lighten up on the Adams Family look, round out the edges of your line to exaggerate the curve of your eye.  And when we say exaggerate, we mean exaggerate!  Extend your line all the way up to your eyebrow, pulling up from the corner of your eye.  It will lift your gaze and give you an air of elegance.

Drawing the eyeliner line
If you decide on an opaque line, opt for a felt-tipped liner.  Cream and gel liners, which come in small pots with an accompanying brush, are the simplest to use; they slide smoothly on your lid and afford a super precise application, giving you lines that are as graceful as they are daring.

If you swear by pencils, pick one with a soft lead that’s not too pointed (don’t hurt yourself!). Here’s a trick to make it hold: lock in your line with powder or a specialized sealer.
